The Crail Preservation Society hosts regular events which benefit both the society and the community at large. Our inaugural golf tournament fundraiser was our Sixtieth Anniversary Golf Tournament, kindly sponsored by Crail Golfing Society, took place on the 20th September 2019.
Crail Preservation Society 60th Anniversary Golf Tournament
Thanks to the very generous offer from Crail Golfing Society of Craighead Links tee times Crail Preservation Society was able to extend invitations to many golfers to participate in our celebratory tournament. Applications came from Crail, Calgary, Hong Kong and Kingsbarns. 84 non-members and members participated on what was a one-in-a-thousand weather day in the East Neuk. Flags barely flapping all day. The golfers had nothing to blame (or praise) but their golf and had nothing but compliments about the quality and condition of Craighead Links.

We have not finalised our tournament finances yet, but as a result of tournament fees, the prize draw and generous donations we feel confident that we have raised over £3,700.
Crail Preservation Society has just completed the major restoration of our iconic Doocot which is now open to the public. We have a list of future projects that, as a result of this event, we can sustain a focus on. These include, repairs to our Mercat Cross, maintenance of our restored Doocot and work on Mural Monuments in our old Crail Kirkyard. The monument we want to do conservation work on next year is dated 1598, and may cost in excess of £20,000 to conserve. It is unique in Scotland and demonstrates the affluent years in Crail’s past.
